NIMC Issues Warning About NIN Fake App




The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) have issue a new warning to Nigerians not to download an App that claims to be linking the National Identity Number (NIN) to their Sim Card, as directed by the Nigerian Communications Commissiom NCC.

The NIN is the 11 digit number issued upon enrolment into the National Identity Database and its also use to capture an individual’s records.

Ever since the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC had issued infor concerning Sim Card to NIN Linking in December, 2020, there has been a surge in the number of Nigerians desperately finding means to enrole for the National Identification Number so as to protect their Sim cards from being block by NCC.

NIMC has issued a short warnning to Nigerians on Monday, January 11 about one circulating NIN App that claimed to be linking NIN with Sim card record. The App was said to be on Google PlayStore.

The agency claimed that the App was created by some fruadsters who are looking for every means to get people’s NINs and BVN numbers.

According to the agency, the app name is NIN Linker – Link SIM to NIN Nigeria.
