Manchester United Go to the Top of the Table for the First Time Since 2012/2013

The Red Devils were hosted by Burnley at Turf Moof for Tuesday’s premier league fixture. United has had an impressive away form this season and they maintained their unbeaten away streak after winning against Burnley.

Ole Gunnan’s men are also on a 12 match unbeaten run, their last loss was against Arsenal on November 1st 2020. Since then, United matches have only been highlighted with wins and draws.

They have move to the top of the table, three points clear of last season league leaders and second placed Liverpool, after Pogba’s important and only goal won United’s match against Burnley, who have been quite impressive in recent times, this season.

After much tussle and both teams creating chances, but, failing to put the ball in the back of the net, the only breakthrough of the match came for United in the 71st minute.

Bruno Fernandez, who has been on fire for United since his move started the goal play from the right side of the midfield before shooting the ball down the right side for Rashford, who did not fail to use his eyesight. When he saw that Pogba was in a beautiful position, he passed the ball to Pogba who fired in a wonderful volley to give his club all three points.

This is the first time Manchester United would finish on top in seven years, since 2012/2013 when they won the title under Alex Ferguson. United still have the Premier league title and the FA cup to worry about.

They hope to finish as Premier League leaders this season, ahead of Liverpool, Tottenham, Leicester City, Everton and Manchester City. The next match United players are going to play would be against top rivals, Liverpool.

If the Red Devils are able to win that match, they would widen the gap against any close call for the title.
