Despite the poor living standard of Nigerians, political office holders never seize to amass & exploit the wealth meant for everyone living in the country as many of them do send their kids foreign universities to study.
The Nigerian education sector & higher institutions are left unattended to as students suffer lack of proper learning equipment.
They are also faced with poor power supply, poor drinking water, uncomfortable lecture halls, old library books, poor learning facilities and so on. Yet Nigerian political leaders sponsor their children in top foreign universities in the world.
Some Nigerian political office holders whose children studied in foreign universities are listed below:
Ibrahim Dankwambo: The former governor of Gombe sent his son Khalifa Dankwambo to study at the Essex University where he later bagged a first class in Computer networking.
He was said to have hosted a celebration dinner in which Nigerian Super Eagle player, Mikel Obi was present.
Rochas Okorocha: He was the former governor of Imo state and sponsored one of his children Owella Okorocha to the University of Manchester where he bagged a first class in mechanical engineering.
Also one of his sons successfully bagged a Master’s degree at the Imperial College, London.
Bukola Saraki: The former Senate President sent his son Seni Saraki to the London School of Economics where he bagged a first class degree.
Ikedi Ohakim: Also a former governor of Imo state sponsored his daughter, Oma Ohakim at the Lancaster University where she obtained her law degree certification.
Doyin Okupe: He sponsored his son Bolu Okupe at the University of Manchester.
Sani Dangote: Sani is a brother to Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa presently. He ensured her daughter Pretty Aziza is a graduate at the University of Warwick.
The current state of education in Nigerian higher instutions is too bad, If only these politicians can make them up to world standard, there won’t be need to go outside the country in order to acquire qualitative.
They should also consider the poor massive who can’t afford universities, hence, let them revive our education sector.
