Sunday, 20th of December was a great day for Leicester City as they proved themselves worthy of fighting for the Premier league title.
Brendan Rodgers side has dealt with their own form of ups and downs this season, as they have struggled to maintain top six on the standings.
On Sunday, Leicester city played against José Mourinho’s side who have been thrilling this season, giving their best in each match. But, Tottenham are now struggling to keep up as they had their second straight loss against Leicester city in a matter of days. Jamie Vardy stole the man of the match in this game, as he scored the first and forced the second to give Leicester all three points.
Both sides were impressive from the beginning of the match as both sided created lots of chances but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. The breakthrough came for Leicester in the injury time of the first half when Tottenham’s Sergie Aurier brought James Justin down in the penalty area. After checking the VAR for confirmation, the referee awarded a penalty and Vardy made good use of the opportunity as he scored, putting Leicester in front and increasing his impressive goal tally to eleven goals.
Leicester tried to widen the scoreline when James Madison put the ball in the back of the net, but, had it ruled out for offside. The seal came for Leicester in the sixtieth minute when Jamie Vardy headed thebakl straight to Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld who put the ball in the back of his own net. It was confirmed an own goal and Leicester were 2 goals up.
Tottenham were desperate for goals and they tried to create more chances to score goals, but, Leicester came prepared as they had and maintained possession of the ball and also blocked Tottenham’s attack. Harry Kane’s shot and header were both saved by Leicester Danish goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel who was also very impressive in the match.
The end of the match, Leicester city came out victorious. Tottenham had dropped to fourth on the premier league table as their woes continue. Everton has moved to second on the table after winning their match against Arsenal while Leicester city are still behind Tottenham on the premier league table despite win.
This weekend has been thrilling, especially with the Premier league matches. The battle for the Premier league title is far from over. On that note the best team win.
