Ronaldo’s Juventus Suffers Biggest Defeat Of The Season




Tuesday, 22nd of December, 2020 was a bad day for the defending champions of Serie A ad they suffered thrr worst defeat of the 2020/2021 season against Fiorentina.


After winning the Serie A title for the last two seasons, Juventus had a shaky start to this season, having recorded quite number of draws. But in recent matches, the defending champions have proved to be top contenders for the title race this season, having qualified for the champions league round of sixteen.

League matches have been clogged together since last week for reasons best known to the football administrative body. The defending champions have played three league matches only from last week to this week. After a dominant win against Parma and a draw against rivals Atalanta, Juventus went against Fiorentina at the Allianz stadium to try and continue their impressive run, but, the Purples came prepared.

Fiorentina secured their first goal as early as the third minute when Dusan Vlahovie produced a beautiful finish, chipping the ball pass Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny. Juventus played attack while Fiorentina blocked with a beautiful counter attack. Juve woes continued when Juan Cudradi was shown a straight red card in the 18th minute, after a harmful tackle on Gaetano Castrovilli.


Five times best player of the year tried his best to bring ten men Old Lady back on track after he scored a beautiful headed which was clearly ruled out for offside, even without checking VAR. Alex Sandro scored an own goal, from a deflection in the 76th minute which placed Fiorentina in front again. In the 81st minute, Martin Caceres scored a beautiful goal to seal the deal for the Purples. Juventus are currently sitting fourth on the table, seven points behind league leaders AC Milan.

The title race is not yet over, so, the defending champions could still bounce back and maybe, win the title.
