Goodnews As NIMC Approves Airtel Nigeria To Participate In NIN Registration





Following the directives by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to all service providers in the country to block all SIMS without NIN, this has led to an influx of people at various NIMC centers in the country.

To quicken and hasten the registration process the Federal Government of Nigeria has granted Airtel Nigeria, a verification and enrolment license to register citizens in the country in the ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) programme.

The approval of NIN registration was contained in a notice issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to Airtel Nigeria.

The approval of Airtel by the NIMC would allow Nigerians who are yet to complete their NIN registration process at any Airtel accredited outlet across the Nation.

In commenting on this new development, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, gave a commendation to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Pantami, for expanding the registration footprints to the body and for taking definitive steps to quicken and smoothen the NIN registration process as well as ease the burden on Nigerians who are eager to get their NIN completed.

“Airtel is always seeking for opportunities to cooperate and partner with the Nigerian government on initiatives that will make life easier and better for Nigerians. As a law abiding and responsible corporate citizen, we are always ready to go the extra mile for our esteemed stakeholders and that is why we are pleased to partner with the Federal Government and NIMC on citizens’ registration exercise,” says, Dr Patami.


Furthermore in commenting about foreign nationals residing in the country he said they are to present their international passports to register a new SIM when the restriction on registration of new sims is lifted, he said.

Finally, this new development will reduce the stress Nigerians are meant to pass through in other to enroll for the National Identity Number (NIN).
